A celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar, Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival, is widely celebrated in various regions. Apart from celebrations ranging from lion-dancing, fireworks to Lunar New Year food, emphases are also given on the year’s Chinese zodiac sign among the 12 animals (it is the Year of the Tiger this coming year) and Fai Chun (揮春) writing.
By registering for ZOOM Participation, students will have a chance to:
- Join students of different cultures for sharing and exchange of new year customs;
- Share their own new year wishes; and
- Learn more about the traditions of Fai Chun writing with Chinese Calligraphy demonstration*
*Together, the participants will select some of the new year wishes collected for Fai Chun writing during the event.
